BUCYRUS – The memories will remain but the building that once housed the Schines Theatre at the corner of South Sandusky Avenue and East Warren Street will come tumbling down in the next week.

Demolition for the building that was once vibrant and bustling with activity but has become an eyesore and a safety risk is scheduled to begin on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Moderalli Excavating, based in Poland, Ohio, will be completing the demolition and asbestos removal at a bid of $396,200 which is below the city’s estimated cost of the project.

Traffic will be detoured away from the area while the building is being demolished.
