A plan is in place by the Galion Board of Education and the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center to find a replacement for Galion Superintendent Mark Stefanik.

Board President Jennifer Kuns said after the meeting that a posting would be made available online July 22 the center’s web site at moesc.com and applications will be taken until Aug. 12.

“We would like to start interviews in the third week of August and we hope to have someone is place by mid-September,” she said.

Stefanik resigned from his role in Galion on June 30 to take a role with Currituck County School District in North Carolina.

Kuns said Stefanik has offered to provide information for the new superintendent.

“That way the new superintendent won’t come in blind,” she said.

The board agreed during the meeting to retain Mid-Ohio to conduct the search at no cost to the district.

Kuns said she’s already heard of interest in the position.

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center also ran the selection process two years ago for the superintendent search which ended with Stefanik’s hire.

Also at the meeting, Stefanik confirmed his final day with the school will be Sept. 30.
