National Night Out is Aug. 2

Staff report

BUCYRUS — Aug. 2 will be the 33rd celebration of National Night Out across the USA. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office will participate, according to Sheriff Scott Kent, who is encouraging Crawford County residents to participate by having or by taking part in neighborhood get-togethers.

Kent said it’s nice to see neighbors coming together to share each other’s company, cookouts, kids playing or just neighbors sitting around and having a quiet, enjoyable evening. Communication with neighbors helps local enforcement clamp down on criminal activity, Kent said, adding that doing things together and socializing create a stronger, healthier communities.

Law enforcement officers will be out and about in the county Aug. 2 and hope to be able stop by and meet folks at area gatherings. Kent said Crawford County deputies enjoy meeting residents at each party and making contact with neighborhood regulars.

The Sheriff’s Office has some supplies and children’s gifts to pass out during the evening.

For more information or to register to host a neighborhood party, call Kent or Major Chad Filliater at 419-562-7906
