BUCYRUS — It’s Friday, and if you are headed to the Crawford County Fair today, be prepared for plenty of heat and humidity. Drink extra water and find some shade every now and then.
Youth and adults with animals at the fairgrounds will be taking extra precautions today to keep their animals happy and healthy. Visitors to the fair should take similar precautions, as this area is under a heat advisory until Saturday evening.
We got barely a trace of rain in Galion this morning. When I looked at the radar, it seemed as if Bucyrus may have received a bit more rain. I know parts of Mansfield received a good soaking.
But in Galion, we’re still awaiting some precipitation.
Today is Burkhart Farm Center Day at the fair.
At 10 a.m., the Back to the Farm sale for dairy and beef feeder calves gets underway. The Horse Fun Show also starts at 10 a.m.
At noon, the Livestock Judging Contest begins in the arena, and at 1 p.m., the Art for Kids show has something to do with “real” mud pies. This one is in the Fine Arts Building
The guest wood carver and Circus Incredible have three shows scheduled today.
This evening, at 5 p.m., is the Antique Tractor Parade, and the Showman of Showman competition, in the Arena
Finally, at 7 p.m., is the Ohio State Tractors Pullers Association truck and tractor pull in the grandstands.
And, for all the youth at the fair who still have a little energy left, there will be a Junior Fair Nerf War in the Youth Building.
Saturday is the final day of this year’s spectacle. Highlights include the Junior Fair Livestock sale at 9 a.m., the 4-H Dog show at 10 a.m., the Men’s Baking Contest at 11 a.m. and the Pedal Tractor Pull, also at 11 am.
Have fun! And drink plenty of fluids.
