BUCYRUS — The second annual Red, White and Blues event brought hundreds of people, young and old, to Aumiller Park on Sunday.

Carolyn Shireman, founder of The Positive Seekers that host the event each year, said by all accounts, it was a success.

“We had a good turnout and people seemed to have a really great time,” said Shireman.

Shireman said there was a steady line of people, especially children, to meet Silly Tilly the Clown.

“She brought Spiderman with her, and boy was he popular with the kids. He even moved like Spiderman and seemed like the real thing. It was really neat,” said Shireman.

Bucyrus City Council member Dan Wirebaugh attended the event and participated in the dunk tank.

“I was telling Carolyn Shireman that the event was amazing for no more members that they had in their group. She said there were about six or so people working to make all this happen. And I said “if six people could do all this just think what the 40,000 people could do in Crawford County,” said Wirebaugh.

Wirebaugh said he had a great time in the dunk tank.

“I feel as an elected official that we have a responsibility to help and promote these types of events. Even though I challenged all elected officials of Crawford County to take a turn in the dunk tank, I was the only one who did,” Wirebaugh said.

Shireman said the event raised about $240 for future events that her group organizes for area residents to enjoy.

“Next up, we have our third annual Hee Haw Hayride in October during Spooktacular. I just confirmed a wagon for the event that is free and open to the public,” said Shireman of the hayride that has been very popular with residents across the county.

Shireman said The Positive Seekers are a non-profit, 501C-3 group that holds fundraisers and accepts donations to sponsor events that are family-friendly for the community.

“We are selling items at the Farmer’s Market in Bucyrus and are very grateful to Doug Godwin of Midwest Furniture who donated $100 on Sunday during the event. We appreciate any of the assistance we get to be able to continue to hold events that bring smiles to everyone,” Shireman said.

Donations can be sent to: The Positive Seekers, 1065 E. Beal Ave., No. 54, Bucyrus, OH 44820.
