May housing sales up in Crawford County

Year-to-year housing sales in Crawford County increased in May.

There were 30 homes sold countywide last month compared with 27 in May 2015, according to data provided by the Mansfield Association of Realtors. The total dollar volume was $71,850, down from $73,570 in May 2015. The average price for homes also declined to $68,734 in May compared with $68,892 in May of last year. But houses were on the market for a shorter period of time — 136 days last month compared with 179 in May 2015.

Members of the association have sold bank owned properties, but the association is not allowed to “single out” foreclosed properties to the public, said Barbara Murray, association executive officer MAR, which breaks down the data by school district.

The Galion school district had 10 homes sold in May compared with nine for the previous year. Total dollar volume was $55,350 last month compared with $64,456 in May 2015. The average price also decreased to $53,101 in May compared with $58,617 in May of last year. Houses were on the market for 156 days last month compared with 139 in May 2015.

The Colonel Crawford school district sold two homes last month and May 2015. The total dollar volume decreased to $101,000 in May compared with $106,200 in May 2015. The average price for homes declined to $92,500 last month compared with $105,250 in May 2015. Homes were on the market for 73 days in May, an increase from 58 days in May 2015.

The Crestline school district had seven homes sold last month, up from four in May 2015. Total dollar volume in May was $67,343 compared with $40,150 in May 2015. The average price for homes was $65,871 last month compared with $39,000 in May 2015. The average number of days that homes were on the market dropped in May at 151 days compared with 258 in May 2015.S

Seven homes were sold in both May 2015 and 2016 for the Northmor school district, which is based in Morrow County. The total dollar volume increased to $278,328 in May compared with $117,557 in May 2015. The average price for homes increased to $270,348 last month compared with $108,714 in May 2015. Homes were on the market for 67 days in May, a sharp decrease from 147 days in May 2015.

The Buckeye Central school district sold no homes in May 2015 and 2016.

For the Bucyrus school district, eight homes were sold last month compared with 11 in May 2015. The total dollar volume for last month was $70,513 compared with $82,127 in May 2015. The average price for homes was $67,213 last month compared with $76,764 in May 2015. Homes were on the market for 113 days in May, down from 212 homes in May 2015.

Wynford had three homes sold in May compared with one in May 2015. The total dollar volume increased to $121,500 in May compared with $129,900 in May 2015. The average price for homes increased to $115,733 last month compared with $121,645 in May 2015. Homes were on the market for 134 days in May, an increase decrease from 99 days in May 2015.
