First Fridays kicks off in Bucyrus

The downtown streets of Bucyrus filled up quickly last Friday for the very first, “First Fridays” event.

According to Tyler Jacobs, Executive Director Trainee of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, the event was a huge success with hundreds of people making their way through town to shop, eat and mingle.

“The attendance was great, and the amount of vendors and tables that we had for the first event was inspiring and a great outlook for the future of this event,” Jacobs said.

One of those vendors was the Fitness Warehouse that is located between Galion and Bucyrus. The 24-hour fitness center brought fitness demonstrations and competitions to the downtown area.

Nine-year-old Macayla Brown enjoyed listening to the musical talents of Lorrie and Chad Brown of Thee Rough Country Band in front of Norman’s Niche.

“They play good music and it was fun to hang out there. I also got to go inside Fishy Business and hold the little kittens,” said Brown, flashing a huge smile.

Jacobs said the live music was the icing on the cake.

“It provided a form of entertainment for the citizens to rest and enjoy the evening, it helped set the mood for a good environment to enjoy downtown Bucyrus. This was a job well done by the First Fridays Committee,” Jacobs said.

Deb Pinion, current executive director of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, said the event accomplished its goal.

“The event got traffic to pull over, take a break and see what our downtown has to offer. The crowd was great, the weather was great and we look forward to the next event,” said Pinion.

The events will be held on the first Friday of each month throughout the summer.
