The Church Street overpass in Galion reopened today, June 8.
Crawford Construction Company, the project contractor, started the project on April 4. Work included full replacement of the asphalt overlay, and resurfacing of the approximately 1,000-foot bridge and approach slabs. Sidewalks and curbing also underwent repairs and a waterproofing membrane was applied to the parapet walls.
Under the OPWC contract, the project needed to be complete by June 30.
“We got done quicker than we thought we would. Our work is done and the project worked out well,” Crawford Construction President John Poffenbaugh said as the asphalt was being laid on Monday.
The $295,542 project was designed by Richland Engineering Limited. The Ohio Public Works Commission provided $119,272 toward the cost and the City of Galion’s share was $176,270.
