Cemetery association considers upgrades

0

The April meeting of the Galion Cemetery Association was held recently at the cemetery office at 1295 Fairview Road. Board members were welcomed by President Jeff Campbell.

Issues for discussion included ways and means to improve the overall appearance of the cemetery grounds and how to increase the convenience and comfort for families during graveside services. Other topics of concern included the rising costs for maintenance and preservation of the cemetery and the steady decline in revenue due to the many changes and choices in burial options over the past several years.

Fairview Cemetery is managed and maintained solely by the Galion Cemetery Association, a non-profit organization, and is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of local business leaders and local residents. It does not derive any income from the city of Galion or any township or other tax base.
