The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War in Galion notes – April

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Tent 91, Galion, met for its regular meeting April 5 at the home of Lois Rinehart. President Cathy Brown was in charge.

Communications included: Ohio Department Address List; letter from VFW in Galion about planning meetings for the memorial Day Parade; letter from Dept. Chief-of-staff, Melanie Baker, about activities at the upcoming Department Convention.

Relief report consisted of: two flowers for the ill, 18 personal visits, 103 cheer cards sent and 258 volunteer hours.

More discussion was held on the upcoming Department Convention. Sept. 24 was set for the Ohio District Meeting which will be hosted by Tent 91. Cathy Brown will again be decorating the graves of the family of Mary Hetter Keis, the person our tent is named after, for Memorial Day.

It was announced that the” Lest We Forget” program will be held Sept. 10 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. A poem about “Spring” was also read.

Mystery gift was won by Janice Cass. Refreshments were served by Lois Rinehart. Next meeting will be held May 3 with Marilyn Sipes as hostess.
