TIFFIN – High school students are invited to explore their musical and theatre interests by participating in Heidelberg University’s first-ever Music & Theatre Summer Camp. From June 4-10, the School of Music & Theatre will welcome students to campus for a week as they learn techniques in vocal (choral and solo), instrumental (strings, winds and percussion) or theatre tracks (monologue coaching and scene study).

Classes will be offered in Audition Techniques, Exploring Careers in the Arts, Movement for Performers, Conducting, Music Theory, Beginning Piano, Jazz Combos/Improvisation and Tech Tips for Artists. Heidelberg faculty members Carol Dusdieker (voice), Jonathan Waters (instrumental), Greg Ramsdell (choral), Steven Svoboda (theatre), Vanessa Cook (theatre) and camp coordinator Elizabeth Tracy will be instructors for the various tracks.

The camp will offer many different performance opportunities, culminating on the final two days with a major concert and the performance of the musical “Godspell.” All campers are eligible to audition for the musical, regardless of the track selected.
