Bucyrus Rotary sponsoring April 29 fishing derby

BUCYRUS–  The Rotary Club of Bucyrus is sponsoring a Fishing Derby for youth age 15 and under Saturday, April 29 at the Crossroads Industrial Pond on Crossroads Boulevard in Bucyrus.

The pond is stocked each year with rainbow trout for the pleasure of area fishermen. This year 700 trout, 12 inches long or longer will be released just prior to the fishing Derby. Carryover fish from previous year’s stocking remain in the pond.

Registration (youth only) begins at 8:30 a.m. and no fishing license is required. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Arrive early for registration. Car pool, if possible, as parking is limited at the Crossroads pond. The derby will is 9-10 a.m.

Spherion Mid Ohio and The Timken Company will be providing safety glasses for the first 100 youth to register. State of Ohio fishing laws and regulations will apply. The Crawford County Game Warden will be attending with gifts for the young anglers.

Prizes will be awarded by the Rotary Club of Bucyrus in several categories of competition. Prizes include; Zebco reels, rod & reel sets, lures and more. Test your skills, catch your limit and join in this exciting Fishing Derby.

Register early by 12:00 noon Thursday, April 27, in Bucyrus at  Craig A. Miley Realty and Auction, second floor of FCBank on Washington Square; Old Crawford Land & Title Agency, 116 W. Perry St. , Andrew Schoch Nationwide Insurance Agency, 130 So. Sandusky Ave.; Bucyrus Tourism & Visitors Bureau, 301 S. Sandusky St. and the FCBank reception desk on Washington Square.
