Jeffrey Turner named Secretary of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council

BUCYRUS — Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities Board member Jeffery Turner has been appointed Secretary of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities for 2017.

Turner is one of 30 members appointed by the governor. Members are people with developmental disabilities, parents and guardians of people with developmental disabilities, representatives from concerned state agencies, and nonprofit organizations and local agencies providing services to people with developmental disabilities. He currently chairs the Leadership Development committee for the third year, and also serves on the Executive, Employment, Public Policy, and Community Living Committees for the DD Council. Turner is serving his 6th year of his second three-year term, in which he has been appointed by Governor Kasich, to the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council.

Turner currently receives services from the Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities. As an individual eligible for services, he is in a unique position to be knowledgeable in the field of developmental disabilities.

Also, the Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities has launched a Creative Abundance Art Program.

Thanks to a grant from the Ohio Arts Council, Breaking Down Walls for a Creative Community, The Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities has had the opportunity to welcome Susan Dlouhy and Patty Mitchell from the Creative Abundance Group for consulting and training.

The mission of the Creative Abundance Group is to enhance the social, emotional and physical well-being of people with intellectual disabilities and other perceived differences.

The Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities, located at 1650 East Southern Ave, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820 serves over 350 children and adults at Fairway School, public schools, Waycraft Industries and other private providers.
