Middle school students holding fundraiser to help with trip costs

GALION — The Galion Middle School is hosting a fundraiser to help students offset the costs of two annual field trips. Eighth grade students will make the trip to Washington, DC May 23-25, while sixth grade students will visit the Mohican Outdoor School May 24-26.

The Middle School is working with Club’s Choice Fundraising, which offers hundreds of products from candles to gift wrapping. Prices for these products begin at $5.

“I’ve been involved with this company in a previous school district, and our other buildings in Galion currently use the company as well,” said Middle School Principal Joe Morabito. “They have a wonderful selection of products, and are very generous with their revenue sharing program.”

All students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades are encouraged to participate in the fundraiser. Students’ families, friends and others in the Galion community can help support the students.

“Presently, we estimate that 25 eighth grade students will need some level of financial assistance to make the Washington, DC trip,” said Morabito. “While we haven’t received deposits for the sixth-grade trip, we are anticipating many students will need assistance for the trip to Mohican.”

The Galion Boosters have donated $500 toward the eighth-grade Washington, DC trip. For those interested in making a charitable donation for the field trips, please make checks payable to The Galion Boosters and write the field trip in the memo line to designate the trip you’re supporting.
