BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus City Schools’ Food Service department is excited to announce the five finalists for the Bucyrus Elementary School Future Chef Competition. The competition, which is aimed at educating kids about healthy eating habits, will be held at 5:00 p.m. March 8 at the Bucyrus Secondary School.

Finalists for this year’s competition include: Arianna Rolley (4th grade), Alory Meade (4th grade), Kyle Pifer (3rd grade), Jake Stover (3rd grade) and Rainy Holmes (3rd grade).

To be considered eligible for competition, students in grades three through five were required to submit a recipe highlighting their favorite healthy comfort food recipe. Twenty entries were submitted, making the selection process extremely challenging again this year.

“Every year, students submit great recipe ideas for this competition,” said Food Services Manager Lorie Pennington. “It was extremely difficult for our judges to select the best five recipes for our competition.”

The Sodexo staff judged the entries. Names of the students were hidden from the judges and final choices were made strictly based on recipes.

“It’s going to be an exciting evening,” Pennington said. “Congratulations to all our finalists and good luck at the cook-off!”
