Tiger netters blank Crestline, lose to Redmen

Recent boys’ varsity tennis play had the Tigers shutting out Crestline 5-0 on Monday and being blanked by Bucyrus on Tuesday.

In the match against the Bulldogs, Sam Maddox cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win in first singles, JD Smith easily won 6-2, 6-2 in second singles, and the locals claimed a forfeit victory in third singles.

First doubles action showed Alex Barker and Caleb Ivy scoring a 6-3, 6-1 triumph, and in second doubles it was Will Starr and Dan Van Vliet netting a 6-1, 6-0 decision.

Against Bucyrus, Maddox fell 6-2, 1-6, 5-7 in first singles, Smith lost 6-4, 6-2 in second singles, and Ivy was bested 6-1, 7-5 in third singles.

In first doubles, the duo of Barker and Landon Rose was topped 6-1, 6-1, while second doubles had Galion’s Starr and Van Vliet losing 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (3-6).

The Orange-and-Blue has a record of 1-8.
