Galion split a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Shelby last Saturday winning one game 6-5 and losing the other 3-2.

In their victory, the Lady Tigers (4-7) trailed 3-0 before scoring 6 runs in the sixth inning to go up 6-3. Shelby notched the final 2 runs of the contest in the seventh.

Offensively for the winners, Calli Bauer ripped a double and a single, Maddie Dretzka and Maddy Garverick had 2 one-baggers apiece, while Jacie Ehrman, Jaime Ehrman, Alex Gates and Shawntel McIe each contributed a base rap.

Bauer was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game, allowing 8 hits, striking out 5 and walking 3.

On defense, the locals committed 3 errors and Shelby, 2.

In the other battle, Shelby scored the decisive run in the top of the eighth inning.

Bauer starred offensively for the Lady Orange-and-Blue cranking out a double and 2 singles. She also scored Galion’s 2 runs. Chipping in with a single each were Jacie Ehrman, Jaime Ehrman, Maddy Garverick, Tori Kirian and Dusty Thomas.

Garverick was the hard-luck pitcher in going the distance for the locals. She was touched for 7 hits, 2 earned runs, whiffed 4 and walked as many.
