LIMA — The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that took place early Saturday.

At 3:57 a.m., deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of H&R Lounge, located at 114 E. 12th St.

During the incident, Marcus Dewayne Simpson Jr., 19, of Lima, was shot. He was taken to Lima Memorial Health System, where he was pronounced dead.

Devontae K. Williams, 21, also of Lima, had also been shot in the parking lot. He was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he was still being treated for his injuries Saturday evening. The extent of those injuries were not released.

Detectives in the Allen County Sheriff’s Office were continuing their investigation. According to Cpl. Bryan McKinney, investigators have been making a concerted effort to locate the shooter.

“I know that the detectives have been in all day today,” he said. “They are going to be working most of the weekend on it. They’ve been working it pretty hard, and from the way it sounded, they were making some headway. However, there have been no arrests made as of today.”

Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to call either the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 419-229-7867.

“We’ve had some people come forward, but I know the detectives feel that the more people that come forward, the better,” McKinney said. “Hopefully it will be wrapped up soon before any retaliation starts happening.”
