Galion, Colonel Crawford split swim meet

Galion and Colonel Crawford split a swim meet on Wednesday with the Tigers recording a 56-37 triumph and the Lady Eagles garnering a 59-35 victory.

For the Galion boys, swimming to first-place finishes were: Zane Ekin, 200 individual medley (2:08.32) and the 100 butterfly (57.42); Sam DeNero, 50 freestyle (22.88) and 100 freestyle (52.85); Chad Karnes, 200 freestyle (1:55.02); plus Logan Amos, DeNero, Ekin and Karnes in the 200 medley relay (1:50.43), as well as the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.20).

First-placers for the Eagles were: Grant Pfeifer, 500 freestyle (5:13.85); Jacob Roesch, 100 backstroke (1:08.46; Jake Johnson, 100 breaststroke (1:08.20); and the 200 freestyle relay squad of Caleb Smith, Roesch, Johnson and Pfeifer (1:43.05).

Leading the charge for the Lady Eagles with top finishes were: Madison Sharp, 200 freestyle (2:19.63), plus the 50 freestyle (28.58); Chloe Grove, 200 individual medley (2:24.87), and the 100 freestyle (58.81); Megan Sharp, 100 butterfly (1:08.44); Carli Fogle, 500 freestyle (6:25.24); Christian Gordon, 100 breaststroke (1:23.63); in addition to the 200 medley frelay quartet of the Sharps, Gordon and Grove (2:05.10), plus Trissa Schimpf, the Sharps and Grove in the 400 freestyle relay (4:12.97).

For the Lady Tigers, grabbing first-place tallies was Kennedy Gregg in the 100 backstroke (1:06.88).

“Were each (boys and girls) 3-2 coming off the split with (Colonel) Crawford,” noted Galion head coach Ted Temple. “I feel the team is right where I want it going into the holiday season.
