Meeting to be held

The Crawford Park District Board of Park Commissioners will be holding their monthly meeting for June at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16.

The meeting will be held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline. For more information, please contact the Park District Office at 419-683-9000.

Daughmer Teasel-Pull

Join volunteers from the Crawford Park District and members of the Ohio Natural Areas and Preserves Association at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Daughmer Savannah, 786 Marion-Melmore Road, in trying to eradicate an invasive species.

Invasive species out-compete our local flora and fauna and can turn habitats into botanical monocultures. Wear long pants and bring gloves and a shovel. Meet at the parking lot at 786 Marion-Melmore road just north of Ohio 294. For more information contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000. Boating Safety/Beginner Canoeing

A canoeing class for beginners will be held at 10 a.m. on June 25 at the Bucyrus Neff Reservoir on Ohio 98.

Canoeing is a great way to get out and enjoy nature. And, as always, when on the water, safety is first and foremost. This program offered by the Crawford Park District, will begin with a boating safety lesson, followed by a canoe float around the Bucyrus Neff Reservoir on State Route 98.

Canoes will be provided. Pre-registration is required by June 24 (419-683-9000). Funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft.
