Saturday, March 16th — Chris is having a Mythbusters science activity for grades 3–6. She needs FOUR volunteers to help out. Each volunteer will be running an experiment station. Dinner Theatre March 16
The 20th annual Dinner Theatre hosted by the Colonel Crawford Academic Boosters will take place on March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert “Mac” Morrison Gymnasium at the Colonel Crawford High School. Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 25 and can be purchased at the high school office for $16. The cost of the ticket includes your dinner with a choice of Baked Steak or Chicken Cordon Bleu. CC Sport Hall of Fame March 17
The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame will induct its 2012 Class, Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the VFW Post #8999, 1325 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus, OH. The evening begins with a social hour at 5 pm. dinner at 6pm, and program at 7 pm. The cost of a ticket is $20, and are on sale now at the Crestline Advocate, the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum and all six high school athletic departments in Crawford County or by calling C.Helbert, 419–571-6284. The 2012 Class includes Bob Miller– Crestline, the late Jerry Harbaugh-Crestline, Delbert Koons-Holmes-Liberty, the late Thomas W. Thatcher-Sulphur Springs, Jim Shuck-Colonel Crawford, and the 1985 State Champion Galion High School Football team coached by Lee Owens.
The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization created in 2006 to honor past athletes, coaches and those who support Crawford County athletics. Its purpose is to encourage participation in high school athletics and to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of sports. It is also in the process of creating scholarships to attend college, for county high school athletes. The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame is also interested in receiving nominations for future inductees. OSU Extension to Offer Webinar Program March 18 on ACRE and DPC Programs from 7–8:30 p.m. and can be viewed by coming to the Court House Lower level Conference room, call the Crawford County OSU Extension Office at 419–562-8731 to make reservations or online by going to http://carmenconnect.osu.edu/ohioagmanager . Chris Bruynis, Assistant Professor & Extension Educator will be the featured speaker. With the passage of the 2012 American Taxpayer Relief Act, Congress extended many provisions of the 2008 Farm Bill.
Farmers now can elect to enroll into the traditional Direct and Counter Cyclical Payment (DCP) Program, the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program, or neither program. Participants will learn the mechanics and restrictions of the programs as well as some strategies to decide which program may be the best election for their farm business.

The monthly meeting of the Crawford County Council on Aging, Inc. Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at the Council on Aging Office, 200 S. Spring St., Bucyrus. The Colonel Crawford Local School, Board of Education, Crawford County Ohio will hold a Board work session on Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. in the high school library. This will be a building and facility discussion with no formal action being taken.
The opening night for the musical ‘Seussical,’ the Galion High School musical is March 22 at the Galion Community Theatre.

Wine Tasting Event for Campus Wear March 23
The Galion Alumni Association will present a California Wine Tasting Event at the Galion Country Club on Saturday, March 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A silent auction featuring great items from local businesses will be part of this event. The California wines will be paired with food selections from the County Club chef.
The proceeds of this event will support the Campus Wear Fund of the Galion City Schools. Tickets for this event are $25 and are available at the Galion Country Club, the Candy Bar and Uptowne Outfitters.
This is the second annual event by the Galion Alumni Association. “We had a good event last year and hope to raise more dollars this year,” said Association president Brian Treisch. “This is a fun event and allows alumni to get together and support an important project. Julie Boles and her committee have worked very hard putting this together.”
All members of the public are invited to attend this event.

Fracking: Environmental Concerns March 23
There will be a meeting about fracking Saturday, March 23 — 2 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park
Melanie Houston, a representative from the Ohio Environmental Education Council, will lead a timely program on the environmental concerns that surround the industrial process of induced hydraulic fracturing (fracking). In 1998, modern fracturing technology, referred to as horizontal slickwater fracturing, made possible the economical extraction of shale gas. The shale layers under parts of Crawford County are Utica Shale. Be an environmentally informed citizen when evaluating the pros and cons of fracking.
