County sports HoF induction banquet scheduled
The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame will induct its 2012 Class on Sunday, March 17 at the VFW Post #8999, 1325 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus.
The evening will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m. and the induction program is slated for 7 p.m.
Cost of a ticket is $20. Tickets are on sale now at the Crestline Advocate, the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum and all six high school athletic departments in Crawford County, or by calling C. Helbert, 419–571-6284.
The 2012 class includes Bob Miller of Crestline, the late Jerry Harbaugh of Crestline, Delbert Koons of Holmes-Liberty, the late Thomas W. Thatcher of Sulphur Springs, Jim Shuck of Colonel Crawford, and the 1985 Division II state championship Galion High School football team coached by Lee Owens.
The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization created in 2006 to honor past athletes, coaches and those who support Crawford County athletics. Its purpose is to encourage participation in high school athletics and to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of sports. It is also in the process of creating scholarships to attend college, for county high school athletes.
The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame is also interested in receiving nominations for future inductees. Anyone knowing of a worthy recipient should contact the CCSHOF either by writing to our address or contacting C. Helbert, secretary.
