Writing Workshops at Galion Public Library
Are you ready to challenge yourself? Is it time for you to get your creative juices flowing? Grab your pens and pencils! The Galion Public library is honored to host local author, Rachel Mendell, for 3 workshops running in February and March.
The first workshop will be held on Saturday February 16th from 10:00am — Noon. “Writing by the Senses” will focus on creating raw material for poems, stories, and memoirs. Infuse new life into a lagging project by using all the senses. Use sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, the sixth sense of the muse and the seventh sense of randomness to open up new areas in the locked up closets of your mind.
The second writing workshop, “Creating Raw Material”, will be held on Saturday, February 23rd from 10:00am — Noon. This workshop will focus on how to create your raw material by unchaining your creator self from your editor self. This will be done through several 5–10 minute writing exercises. Create short fiction, resurrect forgotten memories, start a new project and allow your mind to surprise you.
The third and final workshop will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 10:00am — Noon. Join us for this NEW & IMPROVED “Creating your Memoirs” workshop. This workshop is designed to unlock memories and open doors that have long been shut. This will be done through the use of simple every-day objects. Then, you’ll learn tips on making a memory into a story and get advice on creating a longer work — your memoirs.
Registration is required for all workshops. If you have any questions regarding programming or would like to register for these workshops, please call 419–468-3203. The Galion Public Library looks forward to seeing you!
