Tigers, Golden Knights all win first-round matches at state wrestling meet

COLUMBUS - All five Galion area wrestlers won their first match at the Divi­sion III state meet in Colum­bus this after­noon.
Galion’s Zac Tupps was vic­to­ri­ous 8–6 in over­time in the 126-pound weight class.
The Tigers’ Deaken McCoy pinned his oppo­nent in the third period of the 220-pound weight class. Deaken is one of only 2 sopho­mores in that divi­sion. The other 14 are juniors and seniors.
Northmor’s Jamie Baldridge (4–2) won at 145 pounds, Colin Vis­conti (9–5) did the same at 152 pounds, and Tyler Beck (10–1) was tri­umphant at 195.
Each of the above men­tioned will wres­tle tomor­row morn­ing in the quar­ter­fi­nals.
Action begins at 10 a.m.
