Tigers, Golden Knights all win first-round matches at state wrestling meet

COLUMBUS - All five Galion area wrestlers won their first match at the Division III state meet in Columbus this afternoon.
Galion’s Zac Tupps was victorious 8–6 in overtime in the 126-pound weight class.
The Tigers’ Deaken McCoy pinned his opponent in the third period of the 220-pound weight class. Deaken is one of only 2 sophomores in that division. The other 14 are juniors and seniors.
Northmor’s Jamie Baldridge (4–2) won at 145 pounds, Colin Visconti (9–5) did the same at 152 pounds, and Tyler Beck (10–1) was triumphant at 195.
Each of the above mentioned will wrestle tomorrow morning in the quarterfinals.
