Tiger swimmers cruise at final home meet

Galion took both sides of a high school swim meet on Thurs­day as the Lady Tigers tri­umphed 75–18 and the Tigers notched a 58–35 win over Madi­son in the final home meet of the sea­son for the Orange-and-Blue.

For the Lady Tigers, indi­vid­u­als tri­umph­ing were: Kris­ten Bene­dict, 50 free, 28.12, and 100 free, 1:01.22; Car­o­line Shi­fley, 200 indi­vid­ual med­ley, 2:33.72; and 100 fly, 1:08.41; Molly Barker, 200 free, 2:26; Kennedy Gregg, 100 back, 1:09.33; Becca Rig­don, 500 free, 6:14.27; and Eliz­a­beth Valen­tine, 100 breast, 1:25.03.

The 200 med­ley relay team of Gregg, Shi­fley, Rig­don and Bene­dict won at 2:08.51; the 200 free quar­tet of Saman­tha Alt­stadt, Sadie Willacker, Valen­tine and Barker tri­umphed at 2:05.67; as did the 400 free squad of Shi­fley, Rig­don, Alt­stadt and bene­dict, 4:22.32.

For the Galion boys: Sam DeN­ero was tops in the 50 free, 22.83;, and the 100 free, 54.87; Zane Ekin placed first in the 200 indi­vid­ual med­ley, 2:23.39, and the 100 breast, 1:16.29; Chad Karnes won the 200 free, 2:00.18, and the 500 free, 5:34.75; and Con­nor Kempf touched the wall first in the 100 fly, 59.07, and the 100 back, 56.99.

Also, Kempf, Karnes, Ekin and DeN­ero teamed up to win the 200 med­ley relay, 1:48.08;, and the 400 free relay, 3:42.36.
