Tiger swimmers cruise at final home meet

Galion took both sides of a high school swim meet on Thursday as the Lady Tigers triumphed 75–18 and the Tigers notched a 58–35 win over Madison in the final home meet of the season for the Orange-and-Blue.
For the Lady Tigers, individuals triumphing were: Kristen Benedict, 50 free, 28.12, and 100 free, 1:01.22; Caroline Shifley, 200 individual medley, 2:33.72; and 100 fly, 1:08.41; Molly Barker, 200 free, 2:26; Kennedy Gregg, 100 back, 1:09.33; Becca Rigdon, 500 free, 6:14.27; and Elizabeth Valentine, 100 breast, 1:25.03.
The 200 medley relay team of Gregg, Shifley, Rigdon and Benedict won at 2:08.51; the 200 free quartet of Samantha Altstadt, Sadie Willacker, Valentine and Barker triumphed at 2:05.67; as did the 400 free squad of Shifley, Rigdon, Altstadt and benedict, 4:22.32.
For the Galion boys: Sam DeNero was tops in the 50 free, 22.83;, and the 100 free, 54.87; Zane Ekin placed first in the 200 individual medley, 2:23.39, and the 100 breast, 1:16.29; Chad Karnes won the 200 free, 2:00.18, and the 500 free, 5:34.75; and Connor Kempf touched the wall first in the 100 fly, 59.07, and the 100 back, 56.99.
Also, Kempf, Karnes, Ekin and DeNero teamed up to win the 200 medley relay, 1:48.08;, and the 400 free relay, 3:42.36.
