Mount Union wins national championship

Unde­feated Mount Union beat #3-ranked St. Thomas 28–10 in the Stagg Bowl Fri­day night to win the NCAA Divi­sion III foot­ball national cham­pi­onship.
It is the 11th time the Pur­ple Raiders have won the crown and the 16th time they have played in the Stagg Bowl, includ­ing the most recent eight.

Broth­ers and GHS grad­u­ates Alex and Jack Nicholls - the sons of Mike and Melinda Nicholls of Galion — are mem­bers of the Pur­ple Raiders.
Alex is a start­ing senior defen­sive back and Jack is a junior wide receiver.
