Lexington outscores GHS swimmers

LEXINGTON — Host Lexington swept Galion in a non-conference high school swim meet on Tuesday.
Lady Lex defeated the Lady Tigers 95–74, while the Minutemen dunked the Galion boys 107–59.
Garnering first-place points for the Lady Tigers were: Kristen Benedict, 50 free, 27.31, as well as the 100 free, 59.62; Becca Rigdon, 500 free, 6:03.04; plus Samantha Altstadt, 100 back, 1:10.57. Caroline Shifley swam to second place spots in the 200 IM and the 100 fly. Rigdon was also second in the 200 free.
For the Tigers: Zane Ekin touched the wall first in the 200 IM, 2:10.58, and the 100 fly, 58.71. He also swam the first leg for the victorious 400 free relay squad. Sam DeNero, Connor Kempf and Logan Amos were others on that team. Their time was 3:46.65.
Also for the Orange-and-Blue, DeNero won the 100 free, 53.48; Kempf was best in the 100 back, 58.51. Also, DeNero placed second in the 200 free.
“Good meet. Times were great,” stated Galion head coach Ted Temple. “Lexington out-numbered us. Sam and Zane had a great meet for the men. Becca Rigdon, Kristen and Caroline had a good meet for the women.”
