Lexington outscores GHS swimmers

LEXINGTON — Host Lex­ing­ton swept Galion in a non-conference high school swim meet on Tuesday.

Lady Lex defeated the Lady Tigers 95–74, while the Min­ute­men dunked the Galion boys 107–59.

Gar­ner­ing first-place points for the Lady Tigers were: Kris­ten Bene­dict, 50 free, 27.31, as well as the 100 free, 59.62; Becca Rig­don, 500 free, 6:03.04; plus Saman­tha Alt­stadt, 100 back, 1:10.57. Car­o­line Shi­fley swam to sec­ond place spots in the 200 IM and the 100 fly. Rig­don was also sec­ond in the 200 free.

For the Tigers: Zane Ekin touched the wall first in the 200 IM, 2:10.58, and the 100 fly, 58.71. He also swam the first leg for the vic­to­ri­ous 400 free relay squad. Sam DeN­ero, Con­nor Kempf and Logan Amos were oth­ers on that team. Their time was 3:46.65.

Also for the Orange-and-Blue, DeN­ero won the 100 free, 53.48; Kempf was best in the 100 back, 58.51. Also, DeN­ero placed sec­ond in the 200 free.

Good meet. Times were great,” stated Galion head coach Ted Tem­ple. “Lex­ing­ton out-numbered us. Sam and Zane had a great meet for the men. Becca Rig­don, Kris­ten and Car­o­line had a good meet for the women.”
