Galion sweeps Bucyrus and Wynford in NCC swim meet

BUCYRUS — It was a clean sweep in a North Cen­tral Con­fer­ence swim meet for Galion High School here on Thursday.

In the boys’ com­pe­ti­tion, the Tigers scored 111 points to top Wyn­ford, 98; and Bucyrus, 30.

In girls’ action, the Lady Tigers had 113 points, Wyn­ford tal­lied 91, and Bucyrus gar­nered 81.

Indi­vid­u­ally for the Tigers, Sam DeN­ero, Zane Ekin and Con­nor Kempf each swam to a pair of first place spots. DeN­ero won the 200 free (2:01.86) and the 50 free (23.82); Ekin was tops in the 200 IM (2:10.6) and the 100 breast (1:10.53), while Kempf won in the 100 fly (1:00.5) and the 100 back (1:00.2). Logan Amos touched the wall first in the 100 free (1:01.07).

Also„ the 200 med­ley relay squad of Kempf, Ekin, DeN­ero and Amos was tops (1:51.16), as was that same quar­tet in the 400 free relay (3:41.68).

Win­ning events for the Lady Tigers were: Kris­ten Bene­dict, 50 free (27.69) and the 100 free (1:00.1); Car­o­line Shi­fley, 200 IM (2:32.49) and the 100 fly (1:06.52); plus Kennedy Gregg, 100 back (1:11.42).

Also, the 200 free relay squad of Gregg, Liz Valen­tine, Sadie Will-acker and Molly Barker was vic­to­ri­ous (2:05.41).
