Galion sweeps Bucyrus and Wynford in NCC swim meet

BUCYRUS — It was a clean sweep in a North Central Conference swim meet for Galion High School here on Thursday.
In the boys’ competition, the Tigers scored 111 points to top Wynford, 98; and Bucyrus, 30.
In girls’ action, the Lady Tigers had 113 points, Wynford tallied 91, and Bucyrus garnered 81.
Individually for the Tigers, Sam DeNero, Zane Ekin and Connor Kempf each swam to a pair of first place spots. DeNero won the 200 free (2:01.86) and the 50 free (23.82); Ekin was tops in the 200 IM (2:10.6) and the 100 breast (1:10.53), while Kempf won in the 100 fly (1:00.5) and the 100 back (1:00.2). Logan Amos touched the wall first in the 100 free (1:01.07).
Also„ the 200 medley relay squad of Kempf, Ekin, DeNero and Amos was tops (1:51.16), as was that same quartet in the 400 free relay (3:41.68).
Winning events for the Lady Tigers were: Kristen Benedict, 50 free (27.69) and the 100 free (1:00.1); Caroline Shifley, 200 IM (2:32.49) and the 100 fly (1:06.52); plus Kennedy Gregg, 100 back (1:11.42).
Also, the 200 free relay squad of Gregg, Liz Valentine, Sadie Will-acker and Molly Barker was victorious (2:05.41).
