Monet Auction

This image pro­vided by Christie’s Images, Ltd, in New York, Fri­day Nov. 9, 2012, shows a work from Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” series. The paint­ing is from the estate of Ethel Strong Allen, widow of Wall Street exec­u­tive Her­bert Allen Sr., that she bequeathed to a sub­ur­ban board­ing school, was sold Wednes­day for more than $43-million at Christie’s Evening Sale of Impres­sion­ist & Mod­ern Art.
