4 Tiger gridders claim First Team district honors

Galion’s 9–2 sea­son and out­right North Cen­tral Con­fer­ence cham­pi­onship resulted in four Tigers earn­ing Divi­sion IV First Team All-Northwest Dis­trict hon­ors and a fifth Tiger being named Sec­ond Team.

Seniors David Nay, tail­back; Mike Hol­lis, nose guard; and Nate Cass, line­backer; plus junior Dareian Watkins, wide receiver; are the First Team Tigers.

Brent Espos­ito, a senior offen­sive line­man, is the Sec­ond Team selection.

Nay rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and scored 140 points for the Orange-and-Blue this season.

Hol­lis set a school record with 17 quar­ter­back sacks, shat­ter­ing the pre­vi­ous stan­dard of 14.

Cass won one of the lead­ing tack­lers in the North Cen­tral Conference.

Watkins — despite miss­ing one entire game and all but four min­utes of another, scored 100 points.

Espos­ito was part of an offen­sive line that was instru­men­tal in the Orange-and-Blue aver­ag­ing nearly 35 points a game.
