#1-ranked Mount Union tops Heidelberg; 3 former Tigers play

In a bat­tle between NATIONALLY-RANKED and unde­feated Divi­sion 3 col­lege teams, #1-ranked Mount Union defeated Hei­del­berg 33–14 today in Alliance.

Galion’s Alex Nicholls with a BIG game defen­sively for Mount Union with an inter­cep­tion, 2 bro­ken up passes, and 3 tackles.

His brother Jack is a wide receiver, and also played.

Car­tel Brooks — Alex and Jack’s for­mer team­mate at Galion High School — rushed for 70 yards on 14 car­ries for Heidelberg.

Car­tel entered the game as the lead­ing rusher AND scorer in the Ohio Ath­letic Con­fer­ence, aver­ag­ing ALMOST twice as many yards per game rush­ing as the #2-ranked player in the conference.

Mount Union (8–0) had recorded six con­sec­u­tive shutouts and allowed just 7 points in its first 7 games.

In Divi­sion II, the Lee Owens-coached and NATIONALLY-RANKED UNDEFEATED Ash­land Uni­ver­sity Eagles upped their record to 9–0 with a 42–21 smash­ing of Find­lay University.
