Robert E. "Robby" Reed
Robert E. “Robby” Reed, 34, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness.
Born Mar. 14, 1978 in Portsmouth, Robby was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School and attended North Central State College in Mansfield and Mt. Vernon Nazarene College. He belonged to the Unicycle Club and rode a 12 foot unicycle while attending Woodland Elementary School in Mansfield. He enjoyed swimming and participated on the Walnut Hills and Woodland Swim teams. He was an all-star little league pitcher, an avid snow skier, played on the YMCA community basketball league and played soccer. He enjoyed digital photography, model railroading, camping, animals, golf and music, played the tenor saxophone and was a black belt in karate. Robby was the recipient of the McGowan Courage Award presented by the Mansfield Rotary Club and was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Galion
He is survived his mother and stepfather, Cynthia M. and John S. Roby of Mansfield, his father and stepmother, David M. and Laura Reed of Galion; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David Paul Reed and Dr. Amy Reed of Dublin; one sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Michael Shipman of Bucyrus; four stepbrothers, John C. (Carolyn) Roby of Bellville, Robert S. (Shawna) Roby of Galena, Bruce S. (Katrina) Roby of Galena and Richard B. (Natalie) Roby of Galena; many nieces and nephews; paternal grandmother, Doris Reed of Allison Park, Penn., an uncle, Daniel (Verna) Reed of Butler, Penn. and a special friend, Annie Baker of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Isabelle and Earl Mellott and paternal grandfather, David E. Reed.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at Free Methodist Church, 683 Portland Way North, Galion, with Rev. Paul Walter officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Burial will be in Sylvania Hills Cemetery in New Brighton, Penn.
