Robert E. "Robby" Reed

Robert E. “Robby” Reed, 34, of Mans­field, died Tues­day, Sept. 11, 2012 at River­side Methodist Hos­pi­tal in Colum­bus after an extended illness.

Born Mar. 14, 1978 in Portsmouth, Robby was a grad­u­ate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School and attended North Cen­tral State Col­lege in Mans­field and Mt. Ver­non Nazarene Col­lege. He belonged to the Uni­cy­cle Club and rode a 12 foot uni­cy­cle while attend­ing Wood­land Ele­men­tary School in Mans­field. He enjoyed swim­ming and par­tic­i­pated on the Wal­nut Hills and Wood­land Swim teams. He was an all-star lit­tle league pitcher, an avid snow skier, played on the YMCA com­mu­nity bas­ket­ball league and played soc­cer. He enjoyed dig­i­tal pho­tog­ra­phy, model rail­road­ing, camp­ing, ani­mals, golf and music, played the tenor sax­o­phone and was a black belt in karate. Robby was the recip­i­ent of the McGowan Courage Award pre­sented by the Mans­field Rotary Club and was a mem­ber of the Free Methodist Church in Galion

He is sur­vived his mother and step­fa­ther, Cyn­thia M. and John S. Roby of Mans­field, his father and step­mother, David M. and Laura Reed of Galion; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David Paul Reed and Dr. Amy Reed of Dublin; one sis­ter and brother-in-law, Angela and Michael Ship­man of Bucyrus; four step­broth­ers, John C. (Car­olyn) Roby of Bel­lville, Robert S. (Shawna) Roby of Galena, Bruce S. (Kat­rina) Roby of Galena and Richard B. (Natalie) Roby of Galena; many nieces and nephews; pater­nal grand­mother, Doris Reed of Alli­son Park, Penn., an uncle, Daniel (Verna) Reed of But­ler, Penn. and a spe­cial friend, Annie Baker of Mansfield.

He was pre­ceded in death by mater­nal grand­par­ents, Isabelle and Earl Mel­lott and pater­nal grand­fa­ther, David E. Reed.

A funeral ser­vice will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sat­ur­day, Sept. 22, 2012 at Free Methodist Church, 683 Port­land Way North, Galion, with Rev. Paul Wal­ter offi­ci­at­ing. The fam­ily will receive friends imme­di­ately fol­low­ing the funeral ser­vice. Bur­ial will be in Syl­va­nia Hills Ceme­tery in New Brighton, Penn.

In lieu of flow­ers memo­ri­als may be made to Dayspring Assisted Liv­ing, 3220 Olives­burg Road, Mans­field, Ohio 44903.
