Riley O "Smokey" LaRue

Riley O. “Smokey” LaRue, 82, of Galion, died Wednes­day, Sept. 26, 2012 at Mill Creek Nurs­ing Cen­ter in Galion.

Born April 13, 1930 in Jamestown, Tenn., he was the son of the late William and Viann (Beaty) LaRue. He mar­ried Luella Mae (Sulser) LaRue on Apr. 2, 1949 who survives.

He was a mem­ber of South View Bap­tist Church and the Craw­ford County Coon Hunters. Smokey enjoyed hunt­ing and trap­ping and was known as an avid wheeler-dealer.

He was pre­vi­ously a welder for the for­mer Komatsu-Dresser in Galion and retired as a welder from the for­mer Peabody-Galion after 34 years.

Sur­viv­ing are his two daugh­ters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Schiefer of Iberia and Mar­i­lyn and Todd Wert of Lex­ing­ton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven LaRue of Mans­field, Mark and Rhonda LaRue of Iberia and Darin and Tayna LaRue of Cale­do­nia; 13 grand­chil­dren; many great-grandchildren; sev­eral great-great grand­chil­dren; one sis­ter and brother-in-law, Velma and Joe Roelle of Galion; sev­eral lov­ing nieces and nephews and car­ing neighbors..

He was pre­ceded in death by five broth­ers and five sisters.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mon­day, Oct. 1, 2012 at South View Bap­tist Church where ser­vices will be held at 12 p.m. Mon­day, with Pas­tor Cliff Hart­ley offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Arrange­ments are in the care of the Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
