GOLF
The linksters recorded their lowest round of the season in a 152–163 win over North Central Conference opponent on Wednesday at Twin Lakes. In winning, the Orange-and-Blue upped their conference record to 9–2.
In the victory over the Warriors, Connor Campbell fired a 37, Eric Powell and Seth Van Dine were one shot back with 38s, and Clayton Kendall also turned in a sub-40 39.
Ontario’s Tyler Wilson blistered the course for a 35 to rack up match medalist honors.
Galion is back in action today at Eagle Creek for the Norwalk Invitational.
Tuesday at the Galion Country Club, the Tigers nipped conference-leading Upper Sandusky 165–167, handing the Rams their first NCC loss of the season in eight matches.
Eric Powell and Seth Van Dine both went sub-40 for the locals with 39s. Connor Campbell’s 43 and Clayton Kendall’s 44 rounded out the scoring for the winners.
Upper Sandusky’s Alex Oney wrapped up match medalist honors with a 38.
Upper Sandusky’s reserves topped the Galion junior varsity squad 210–218.
For the junior Tigers, Evan Huggins shot a 43, John Poffenbaugh, 52; Jeremy Mason, 58; and Karissa Rinehart, 65.
TENNIS
At Upper Sandusky on Tuesday, the Lady Tigers picked up a 4–1 victory in North Central Conference action.
Picking up the points for the Orange-and-Blue were: Raven Crawford, a 6–2, 6–2 winner in second singles; Sierra Johnson, a 6–3, 6–4 victor in third singles; the first doubles team of Kelsey and Sara Cassady via a 6–1, 6–1 hammering; as well as the second doubles duo of Donnetta Lester and Katelyn Smith on the strength of a 6–1, 6–1 triumph.
Kayla LaForest was outscored 6–3, 4–6, 5–7 in first singles.
VOLLEYBALL
A 3–0 whitewashing of North Central Conference foe Ontario Thursday evening at the high school got the Orange-and-Blue back on the winning track, improving their overall record to 8–4 and conference mark to .500 at 3–3.
The match against the Lady Warriors was never in doubt as the locals rolled to wins of 25–15, 25–10 and 25–10 in the three games.
Reanne Neal was the star for the Lady Tigers scoring 13 points, blasting 10 kills, serving up 4 aces and blocking a pair of shots.
Caroline Delgreco was tops in ball handling with 17 assists and also had 8 digs, and Jennifer Harsh garnered a team-high 12 receptions.
Tuesday, the Lady Tigers were shut out 3–0 at Upper Sandusky by Upper Sandusky in a NCC match-up.
The Lady Rams won games by scores of 25–22, 26–24 and 25–19.
Caroline Delgreco was the high scorer (7 points) and leader in assists (16) for Galion.
Other to performers were: Jennifer Harsh with 15 receptions and 9 digs; Reanne Neal with 16 kills in 30 attempts; and Taylor Valentine, two blocked shots.
