Dustin Jones Redmond

Dustin Jones Red­mond, Sr., age 92, of Mar­ion and for­merly of Galion, died on Tues­day after­noon, Sep­tem­ber 25, 2012, at his res­i­dence in the Prim­rose Retire­ment Com­mu­nity fol­low­ing a brief illness.

On July 13, 1920, Dusty was born in Cen­ter­ville, Ohio, the son of the late Frank A. and Marie (Jones) Redmond.

A grad­u­ate of Case School of Applied Sci­ence, he served in the 5th Air Force in the Pacific The­ater dur­ing World War II.

On Sep­tem­ber 20, 1946, he mar­ried Nancy Hiles, who pre­ceded him in death on Feb­ru­ary 19, 2012. The Red­monds moved to Galion in 1946, where Dusty joined Lott Motor Com­pany. Later, he was a sales exec­u­tive with the for­mer Her­cules Galion Com­pany and Pre­mier Man­u­fac­tur­ing Co., Indi­anapo­lis, IN, before start­ing his own man­u­fac­tur­ers’ rep­re­sen­ta­tive firm.

Dusty was an Eagle Scout, held a pri­vate pilot’s license, was a past pres­i­dent of the Galion Coun­try Club, and was a mem­ber of the board of direc­tors of the Galion Inquirer newspaper.

Dusty will be dearly missed by his three sons: Dustin (Janet) Red­mond, Jr., of Mar­ion, Dr. William (Dr. Nancy Mer­ritt) Red­mond of Terre Haute, IN, and Dr. Frank Red­mond of Hous­ton, Texas; six grand­chil­dren: Judd (Brynn) Red­mond, Alli­son (Travis) Redmond-Messer, Christo­pher Red­mond, Nicholas Red­mond, Shanna Rome, and Bil­lie Rome Emas; a sis­ter, Mary (Carl) Rocco of Macon, Geor­gia; and his nieces and nephews.

In addi­tion to his wife and par­ents, Dusty was pre­ceded in death by his brother, Gomer H. Redmond.

At Mr. Redmond’s request, ser­vices will not be observed. A pri­vate fam­ily bur­ial will be held at Spring Grove Ceme­tery in Carey, Ohio, at a later date.
