Doris Jean (Baumberger) Henke

ONTARIO, Ohio — Doris Jean (Baum­berger) Henke, age 80, of Ontario, passed away early Wednes­day evening, Sep­tem­ber 19, 2012.

She was born Novem­ber 8, 1931 in Mans­field to the late David and Flo­rence (Bogner) Baumberger.

Doris enjoyed danc­ing in her younger years and enjoyed watch­ing dance shows on tele­vi­sion. In her spare time, she could be found quilt­ing, sewing or read­ing at the library.

In a quest to fur­ther her edu­ca­tion, she began nurs­ing school at the age of 50 and made the Dean’s List for 2 years, along with her youngest sis­ter. Doris retired from Mans­field Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal where she worked as a LPN for 10 years.

As fur­ther tes­ta­ment to her giv­ing nature, she show­ered her grand­chil­dren and great-grandchildren with many gifts through­out the years. An inde­pen­dent woman who enjoyed stay­ing busy, Doris vol­un­teered her time at the hos­pi­tal and the Renais­sance The­ater. Her great­est enjoy­ment came in spend­ing time with her family.

She is sur­vived by six chil­dren, Sharyn (Steve) Stal­cup of FL, Karyn (Charles) Christ­man of Galion, Mathew Henke of MT, Mitchell Henke of NC, Mar­tin (Julie) Henke of MO and Marc (Angie) Henke of Ontario; a daughter-in-law, Donna Henke of MO; thir­teen grand­chil­dren, Anthony, Mac, Amanda, Joe, David, Dina, Abby, Mason, Tony, Sher­man, Clarissa, Cur­tis, and Logan; sev­eral great-grandchildren; a brother, Don­ald (Eve­lyn) Baum­berger; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

In addi­tion to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by her son, Michael Henke; a grand­son, Randy Christ­man; and ten broth­ers and sisters.

Friends and fam­ily may visit from 1–3 p.m. Sun­day, Sep­tem­ber 23, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wapp­ner Funeral Direc­tors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral ser­vice con­ducted by Pas­tor Her­man King will be held at 10:00 a.m. Mon­day in the funeral home. Bur­ial will fol­low in Mans­field Memo­r­ial Park.
