Barbara H. Collins

Bar­bara H. Collins, age 71, of Edi­son, died peace­fully Wednes­day after­noon, Sep­tem­ber 26, 2012, at the Mor­row County Hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a coura­geous two year bat­tle with cancer.

On Decem­ber 31, 1940, Barb was born in Geneva, Penn­syl­va­nia, the daugh­ter of the late Bar­bara (Bruey) Burt Traxler and Ralph L. Clark. She grad­u­ated from Mar­ion Catholic High School in the class of 1959.

For over twenty five years, Barb worked for G.T.E. in Mar­ion in their train­ing depart­ment, until her retirement.

A woman of faith, Barb was a mem­ber of the Canaan United Methodist Church. She also had served as a 4H advi­sor in Mor­row County for many years.

She will be dearly missed by her hus­band, George Collins, whom she mar­ried on Sep­tem­ber 13, 1976; her daugh­ter, Kim (Ron) Auld of Edi­son; her son, Tim (Tracy) Wilkins of Edi­son; her step daugh­ter, Becky Collins of Ash­land; her 8 grand­chil­dren: Ash­ley and Amber Auld, Corey Collins, Jesse Andrews, Cameron Irons, Kelly Wilkins, and Maken­zie and Olivia Dowal­ter; 5 great-grandchildren; four sis­ters: Mary (Mike) Dard­inger of Mar­ion, Con­nie McFad­den of Colum­bus, Peg (Jerry) Hissong of Cale­do­nia, and Melodee Rawl­ins of Mar­ion; three broth­ers: Larry Burt of Mar­tel, Ted (Rose­mary) Burt of Mar­ion, and Bret (Diane) Clark of Erie, PA; a close friend, Ann Wojt­seck; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

Includ­ing her par­ents, Barb was pre­ceded in death by her step-father, Paul Burt.

Her fam­ily will greet friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Mon­day, Octo­ber 1, 2012, at the Sny­der Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Ser­vices hon­or­ing her life will also be held there on Tues­day at 10:00 a.m., with Pas­tor Matt Skel­ton offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in North Canaan Ceme­tery in Caledonia.
