With the summer winding down and school getting ready to start a lot of people are content with what they have done during their summer. Whether it was vacationing or spending time at home relaxing in the pool most summers are coming to an end. There is however some time left before Galion goes back to school and there is still plenty to do. Now that the weather isn’t so hot a good thing to do would bring your family out to Heise Park. There is plenty to do there, such as play basketball or tennis. There is also plenty of open grass at the park to play a game of catch or throw a fresbie around. The park also provides a playground with plenty of equipment for kids to play on. This includes slides and swings. If you’re just looking to relax at the park there is plenty of shade and lots of room for picnics. The pool is also still open Monday through Friday from 1pm to 7:30 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 1p.m. to 5 p.m.
Something else to do is if you’re a football fan, whether it be Ohio State or Cleveland Browns, is to check out a game at the Varsity Grille. Enjoy some good food and drinks while watching your favorite team with other fans. Ohio State returns to the field this year with new head coach Urban Myer. They open their season on September 1 against Miami of Ohio. The Cleveland Browns are playing preseason football right now. They have two preseason games left which include a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday August 24 and a game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday August 30. The Browns have a new starting quarterback by the name of Brandon Weeden this year. Galion is also getting ready to open their season at home on August 24th against Mansfield Senior. So go out to Heise Park and support the Tigers. Whether you’re a sports fan or a fan of the great outdoors there is still plenty left to do in Galion before summer is up.
