Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library fundraiser Aug. 9–11
The Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library will hold a Bake-Book-Treasure Sale Aug. 9 and 10 from 11 a.m. — 6 p.m. and Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. — 1 p.m. in the basement of the Bucyrus Public Library. All proceeds will be used for reading programs. For more information call 419–562-7023.
Water Carnival Aug. 11
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 — Come to this great annual event sponsored by the Crawford Park District. Be ready to get wet and to have great family fun! Water is a natural resource that we often take for granted. The Water Carnival will give you an opportunity to focus on the importance of water in an ecosystem and to have a great time getting wet during water games! There will be fire trucks, a bicycle that goes across water, a slip and slide and food concessions. Lowe-Volk Park is located 3 miles north of US Route 30. Inspired Awakening Aug. 10, 11 and 12
Inspired Awakening, which begins Aug. 10 at 7 p.m., is for drug addicts, recovered addicts and anyone interested in how to defeat drug addiction. The faith-based program will have speakers, bands and worship services. The event will be held at Victory Rock Praise and Worship Center, 1700 Fairview Road, Galion.
Marion Power Shovel Retirees to meet Aug. 11
Marion Power Shovel Retirees, former employees, and spouses will gather Saturday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. for their annual reunion at Lincoln Park on West Fairground Street in Marion. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share. Marion Power Shovel, Osgood-General and Commercial memorabilia welcome. Event is planned the second Saturday of August annually. Together Time Aug. 11
Together Time will meet Saturday, Aug. 11 at Aumiller Park to discover a treasure map. Meet at the Bell Tower at the main entrance at 10 a.m.
Hospice Corn Roast August 11
Food, fun, a live auction and entertainment are lined up to support a worthy cause at the 3rd Annual Community Corn Roast, slated for Saturday, August 11 from 5 p.m. until the food is gone. The Corn Roast will be held at the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church, 2750 Mifflin Avenue, next to Hospice House.
Featuring a full menu of pulled pork, barbecue beef, potatoes, desserts, and sweet corn, the event’s freewill offering will benefit Hospice of North Central Ohio. Also benefiting Hospice of North Central Ohio will be the evening’s live auction scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and a silent auction lasting until 7:45 p.m.
Entertainment at the Corn Roast begins with Mansfield’s Brianna Barnes singing from 5 – 5:30 p.m. Local band “The Road Home” featuring Jason and Lydia Nowakowski will perform from 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. Children’s games and activities will be offered all evening, with face painting, bouncy houses, and visits from local mascots.

CC BOE Aug. 14
The Colonel Crawford Local Schools Local Professional Development Committee will hold a routine meeting in the conference room at the hannah Crawford building on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to consider staff continuing education and professional development for the district.
Two Scratch for Arduino Workshops Scheduled for Teens at Galion Library
Area computer expert and instructor Jerry Francl will take his Scratch computer animation workshop to the next level. On Tuesday, August 14 and Monday, August 20, teens a grades 7–12 will learn all about Scratch for Arduino. The Arduino board allows the Scratch programmer to control devices outside the computer–beyond the 2 dimensions of the flat screen monitor to the 3 dimensional physical world. We’ll be controlling colored LED’s, miniature fans, miniature air pumps, and other devices.
Teens can bring in their own laptop computers or use one from the library’s laptop lab. Teens can sign up for both classes or just one, but sign up is required for those who need to use one of the library’s computers to make sure that a laptop is available. Get a jump start on the paperwork required as a part of the new school year by coming to our FORMS DAY on Aug. 16. This is a great opportunity to simplify the first day of school by completing forms and paying fees before the rush of the new year begins. Stop by the Galion Intermediate School anytime between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to complete important forms such as the Emergency Medical Form, Blue Card, Free and Reduced Lunch form, and School Fee Waiver/Sharing Form. By completing forms in advance, you will know your child’s lunch status before school begins and can rest assured we have current contact information should an emergency arise. This is also a great time to talk with staff about any questions you have related to Transportation, Food Service and Campus Wear. You can make one stop and complete forms for all of your children. Tiffin Flea market Aug. 18–19
The Tiffin Flea Market, sponsored by the Seneca County Jr. Fair Foundation, will have its next show Aug. 18–19 on the Seneca County Fairgrounds, 100 Hopewell Ave., Tiffin. Time for Another Cash Mob — Aug. 18
The Cash Mob continues to gather the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Gazebo on Park Square at noon, where that day’s independently owned business to be visited will be announced. The group will then proceed to the chosen site for some early afternoon shopping.
To date, over 100 shoppers have attended these event that began back in March.
Come out and join us and support an independently owned business on August 18th at noon at the Gazebo on Park Square.

Johnsville Ice Cream Social Aug. 25

The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District will host Water for Yields in Youf Fields Loss Creek Field Day Aug. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Ron Schroeder Farm, 7042 Crestline Road, Crestline, across from Sunrise Cooperative. The day will include cover crop demo, tillage demo, control drainage, 4Rs implementation and farmers approach open discussion.

Fifty Shades of Wine at Main Street Books
Main Street Books is pleased to announce “Fifty Shades of Wine,” a partnering with the local winery Cypress Cellars on a wine tasting and book discussion Friday, August 31 from 7–10 p.m.
Cypress Cellars is generously donating their wine and expertise for a free tasting on the final Friday of August. We will be tasting six to eight different wines and using the get-together as a chance to discuss the most-talked-about books of the year, the Fifty Shades trilogy. All three books will be sold that night at a 20% discount.
