Mad Science Fun Day
Eighty-three kindergarten through second grade youth participated in the 4-H Clovervbud “Mad Science FUN Day”.Sessions for the day included: Learning about the Science of Sound, Tornado “I Spy,” Strength of an Egg, All About Bubbles, Experiments Galore, and Flubber/Goop.
In the Science of Sound they learned about what makes sound and even got to play musical instruments. In Tornado “I Spy” youth made a tornado tube with items in it to spy.
In Strength of an Egg, they learned about egg shells and even walked on anegg without it breaking. In experiments Galore they tried many different kinds of experiments. And Bubbles Galore they learned how to make a bubble wand and even stood in a giant bubble. In Flubber and Goop they made and explored the science behind both goop and flubber.
Volunteers helping with this program were: Diane Sand, JoLyn Williams, Kathryn and Nate Bishop, Amy Coffman, Cindy Cornell, Grace Cornell, Sarah Leitzy, Allison Hartschuh, Lauren Copeland, Aryn Copeland Nathan Miller, Jodi Britt, Jennifer Lepard, Barb Koschnick, Christine Johnson, Sue Flock, Kelly Wingert. Teenagers serving as group leaders were: Morgan Coffman, Sarah Cornell, Kyle Solomon, Iva Jo Bishop, Tori Kirian, Bri Ashley, Taylor Delarber, Hannah Gulley, Kristen Reynolds, Bonnie Welsh, Austin McCracken, Gloria Huber, Joey Baxter, Cheyanne Johnson, and Tori Tanner.
Evaluations showed that the participants enjoyed the day and learned a variety of things. When asked what they learned at the end every session was mentioned.
At the end of the day, participants received a certificate and group photo.
