Leesville Grange #2078 met at the home of Tom and Priscilla Laughbaum on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 7:30 PM. Chaplain Dorothy Eckert gave prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting.
The Legislative report was the Fight Fraud First Coalition “supports the adoption of common sense policies that can both strengthen program integrity and produce savings, while eliminating fraud, abuse and waste and preserving beneficiary access”.
The Family Activities Chairperson reported that the State Directors, Ann and Lyn Shank reminded members to save AA, AAA, C, D and 9 volt batteries for the Re-energizing Battery Collection, Batteries will be recycled and money used by Ida Sue School, a Wayne County DDR School for educational/hands on trips and equipment. This is a new Community Service project.
The Deaf Activities report was on the pop tabs collected by Ohio Grangers amounted to 1.903 pounds of tabs for $1,218 to be given to Ohio School for the Deaf for their yearbook
Community Service Chairman thanked all who brought powdered Gatorade or hot cocoa and Kool-Aid on the Go packs. The drop off center for slightly used cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers Project .is Lydy Chiropractic Clinic on County Line Road in Crestline. Community Service Recognition nomination for non-member in the field of Education was received for Kevin Ruth.
The Lecturer reminded that all Community recognition nominations for members and non-members has to be sent by the Grange to Ohio State Grange Lecturer, Dorothy Eckert by September 1.
The Fairbooth chairman announced the theme for this year’s Grange booth is “Ohio Grangers .. Stepping Up To Serve Their Grange and Community”.
Communications was a packet received from Ohio State Grange office consisting of officer forms, tax exempt status, Grange donations, cookbook price breakdown, promotional flyers, Ohio Granger magazine renewal and a resolution form.
Lecturer’s Program theme for the evening was “July-National Hot Dog and Cell Phone Courtesy Month-Man Bites Dog or Hold That Call”. The program consisted of the history of the hot dog, poems, and cell phone etiquette. Priscilla Laughbaum read an article on Taps used for military funerals including the words to the song.
The next regular Leesville Grange #2078/Pomona Grange #36 meeting will be held at the Jefferson Twp. Fire Department on Tuesday, August 21 at 7:30 PM with election of officers Bring M&M candies and Slim Jims for the military. Lunch will be dessert ala mode pie and ice cream.
