Leesville Grange #2078 met at the home of Tom and Priscilla Laugh­baum on Tues­day, July 10, 2012 at 7:30 PM. Chap­lain Dorothy Eck­ert gave prayer fol­lowed by the Pledge of Alle­giance to the Amer­i­can flag. Master/President Don­ald Graf presided over the meeting.

The Leg­isla­tive report was the Fight Fraud First Coali­tion “sup­ports the adop­tion of com­mon sense poli­cies that can both strengthen pro­gram integrity and pro­duce sav­ings, while elim­i­nat­ing fraud, abuse and waste and pre­serv­ing ben­e­fi­ciary access”.

The Fam­ily Activ­i­ties Chair­per­son reported that the State Direc­tors, Ann and Lyn Shank reminded mem­bers to save AA, AAA, C, D and 9 volt bat­ter­ies for the Re-energizing Bat­tery Col­lec­tion, Bat­ter­ies will be recy­cled and money used by Ida Sue School, a Wayne County DDR School for educational/hands on trips and equip­ment. This is a new Com­mu­nity Ser­vice project.

The Deaf Activ­i­ties report was on the pop tabs col­lected by Ohio Grangers amounted to 1.903 pounds of tabs for $1,218 to be given to Ohio School for the Deaf for their yearbook

Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Chair­man thanked all who brought pow­dered Gatorade or hot cocoa and Kool-Aid on the Go packs. The drop off cen­ter for slightly used cell phones for the Cell Phones for Sol­diers Project .is Lydy Chi­ro­prac­tic Clinic on County Line Road in Crest­line. Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Recog­ni­tion nom­i­na­tion for non-member in the field of Edu­ca­tion was received for Kevin Ruth.

The Lec­turer reminded that all Com­mu­nity recog­ni­tion nom­i­na­tions for mem­bers and non-members has to be sent by the Grange to Ohio State Grange Lec­turer, Dorothy Eck­ert by Sep­tem­ber 1.

The Fair­booth chair­man announced the theme for this year’s Grange booth is “Ohio Grangers .. Step­ping Up To Serve Their Grange and Community”.

Com­mu­ni­ca­tions was a packet received from Ohio State Grange office con­sist­ing of offi­cer forms, tax exempt sta­tus, Grange dona­tions, cook­book price break­down, pro­mo­tional fly­ers, Ohio Granger mag­a­zine renewal and a res­o­lu­tion form.

Lecturer’s Pro­gram theme for the evening was “July-National Hot Dog and Cell Phone Cour­tesy Month-Man Bites Dog or Hold That Call”. The pro­gram con­sisted of the his­tory of the hot dog, poems, and cell phone eti­quette. Priscilla Laugh­baum read an arti­cle on Taps used for mil­i­tary funer­als includ­ing the words to the song.

The next reg­u­lar Leesville Grange #2078/Pomona Grange #36 meet­ing will be held at the Jef­fer­son Twp. Fire Depart­ment on Tues­day, August 21 at 7:30 PM with elec­tion of offi­cers Bring M&M can­dies and Slim Jims for the mil­i­tary. Lunch will be dessert ala mode pie and ice cream.
