On page 11 of our paper today you will find a small story about dirt. It seems that studies are now coming out in favor of dirt.
Dirt is good for kids. There is a myriad of naturally occurring elements, including bacteria and minerals, that are good for kids, apparently giving their growing immune systems a kick up.
And something in the dirt triggers serotonin which makes kids happy and relaxed. Studies also note that the tactile experience children have while playing in the dirt is good for their brain development.
Sure is nice to know I’ve actually been doing it right all these years. Wow, just feel that load of guilt slide away.
Now, you’ll have to excuse me, I’ve got that garden to plant.
