Setting up chairs
Rachel Mendell — StaffBy 6:45 p.m. they were setting up extra chairs for the third worship service in the Lenten Series. On March 11, the Windfall Emanuel United Church of Christ was filled to overflowing.
With scheduled singer Simon Avila taken ill, local talent stepped up to fill Sunday evening’s Lenten service with worship music: The Windfall Choir, Dave & Ethel Smith, John Slabach, The Pastels (Dianne Ahleseld, Janice Lemke, Joyce Isenberg) and Lynda Wenzel. The congregation also participated in a hymn sing.
Songs for the evening included “10,000 Angels,” “I’ll Be Singing with the Saints,” “Feel the Nails,” “He Touched Me,” “For Those Tears I Cried,” “Jesus Listens,” “Can I Pray For You?” “The Blood Covered All,” “Oh, What a Savior,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Wonderful Grace of Jesus,” “If That Isn’t Love” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Rachel Mendell — StaffThe Galion Ministerial Association invites you to attend the remainder of the Lenten services. The fourth in the series will be Sunday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry St, Galion. Rev. Rick Maddox from Galion Alliance Church will minister.
The fifth in the series will be March 25 at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 127 S. Columbus St., Galion. Rev. Richard Genzmen from Peace Lutheran church will minister.
The sixth will be April 1 at 7 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 244 Harding Way West, Galion. This will be a concert with Jim and Shirley Tubbs from Ft. Wayne, Ind.
There will be a Good Friday Service at the Galion Community Theatre April 6 at 7 p.m.
There will be a Spring Sing at Windfall UCC Sunday, April 22 at 6 p.m. The freewill offering for the Spring Sing will benefit the Northeast Ohio Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training.
