MedFlight establishes temp spot in MoCo, moving forward with Galion base
MedFlight of Ohio is going forward with plans for its helicopter base at the Galion Municipal Airport. The company has moved a Lodi-based helicopter to the Mount Gilead EMS center to temporarily cover the area until construction is completed in Galion.
“As we work to complete the permanent helicopter base of operations at Galion Airport, we are ‘day basing’ our Lodi aircraft at Morrow County EMS,” said MedFlight president Rod Crane. That means a helicopter and its associated staff will take off from Lodi each morning for Morrow County and return north each evening.
“Our temporary location into Morrow County and eventually into Crawford County will enable the MedFlight helicopter to respond more quickly to the Morrow, Crawford, Richland and Knox counties more timely than we can from Lodi,” said Crane. The Lodi aircraft will be permanently moved to Galion once construction is finished in May.
