The Galion Inquirer

Little hands, big hearts

Students from Galion Intermediate and Galion Primary schools gather with Dawn Burkholder, PTO president, around the two cardboard bins full of items to be sent to area troops deployed overseas. The schools collected the items during a donation drive last week after receiving word that the Support Galion Troops group had run out of items to send in care packages. The group has adopted 20 soldiers, each of which receives a care package each month between one and three weeks after it’s sent. Students brought in enough items for at least two shipments, according to Julia Roelle, a GIS teacher, and raised more than $200 to cover shipping costs. Support Galion Troops members are packing the next care packages tonight, Feb. 27.
