Girl Scouts, Salvation Army team up to fight hunger
Junior scouts Sophia Germann, 9, Julia Roderick, 10, and Alison Longwell, 10, staff the Girl Scout food drive station at the Galion Geyer’s. Food collected in Galion will stay in Galion, according to Amy Schieber, leader of troop 2640. The drive supported the Salvation Army food bank at the Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission offices on Buehler Street.
Kaitlyn Schieber, 10, and Paige Rudolph, 10, pick out food staples and cleaning supplies at the Galion Geyer’s supermarket Saturday morning, Feb. 18. The two Girl Scouts in troop 2640 helped at a regional Girl Scout food drive held all day Saturday in Galion, Crestline and Bucyrus to support the area’s food banks. One donor gave the troop some cash to purchase necessary supplies while others dropped off nonperishable food.
