Northmor Local School District holds organizational meeting

The Northmor Local School District held their regular and organizational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Northmor High School/Junior High School to make elections and give the oath of office to those elected for the 2012 year.
The first order of business was to give Mr. Bachelder and Mr. Whisler the Oath of Office.
Mr. Whisler was nominated and elected for President, and Mr. Smith as Vice President. The Board then moved on to more regular and administrative matters.
The Board’s regular monthly meetings will be on the third Thursday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. in the Northmor High School/Junior High School Library, except in the months of June, July, and August.
The Board authorized the establishment of a service fund for the Board of Education for professional meetings in the amount of $3,000.
The Board authorized the Treasurer during 2012 to request advances on local taxes as available and needed, to pay all bills as they are presented provided funds are available and to report monthly to the Board of Education those bills that have been paid, and to invest inactive funds in Certificates of Deposit in the eligible bank or banks submitting the highest rate of interest for each proposed investment or invest in Treasury Bills or Notes or Star Ohio in compliance with the applicable statutes.
Superintendent Winand was authorized as Purchasing Agent for 2012, and assigned the responsibility for the quality and quantity of purchases made, provided that all purchases fall within the framework of budgetary appropriations and that they be consistent with the approved educational goals and programs of the district.
The Superintendent is also authorized to employ temporary personnel as needed. Such employments will then be presented for approval by the board at their next regular meeting.
In other business, the Board appointed Mr. Tim Bachelder as their liaison to the Ohio School Board Association (OSBA). The Board also approved the 2012 membership dues to OSBA in the amount of $4042.
The Board also discussed the public auction of the Johnsville (approximately 2.7 acres) and the Iberia (approximately 2.5 acres) properties. The auctions for the Iberia and Johnsville lands will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 10 a.m. in the new school cafeteria.
The Board adjourned in executive session to discuss personnel matters at 7:55 p.m.
