Northmor Local School District holds organizational meeting

The North­mor Local School Dis­trict held their reg­u­lar and orga­ni­za­tional meet­ing on Thurs­day, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the North­mor High School/Junior High School to make elec­tions and give the oath of office to those elected for the 2012 year.

The first order of busi­ness was to give Mr. Bachelder and Mr. Whisler the Oath of Office.

Mr. Whisler was nom­i­nated and elected for Pres­i­dent, and Mr. Smith as Vice Pres­i­dent. The Board then moved on to more reg­u­lar and admin­is­tra­tive matters.

The Board’s reg­u­lar monthly meet­ings will be on the third Thurs­day of every month, at 7:30 p.m. in the North­mor High School/Junior High School Library, except in the months of June, July, and August.

The Board autho­rized the estab­lish­ment of a ser­vice fund for the Board of Edu­ca­tion for pro­fes­sional meet­ings in the amount of $3,000.

The Board autho­rized the Trea­surer dur­ing 2012 to request advances on local taxes as avail­able and needed, to pay all bills as they are pre­sented pro­vided funds are avail­able and to report monthly to the Board of Edu­ca­tion those bills that have been paid, and to invest inac­tive funds in Cer­tifi­cates of Deposit in the eli­gi­ble bank or banks sub­mit­ting the high­est rate of inter­est for each pro­posed invest­ment or invest in Trea­sury Bills or Notes or Star Ohio in com­pli­ance with the applic­a­ble statutes.

Super­in­ten­dent Winand was autho­rized as Pur­chas­ing Agent for 2012, and assigned the respon­si­bil­ity for the qual­ity and quan­tity of pur­chases made, pro­vided that all pur­chases fall within the frame­work of bud­getary appro­pri­a­tions and that they be con­sis­tent with the approved edu­ca­tional goals and pro­grams of the district.

The Super­in­ten­dent is also autho­rized to employ tem­po­rary per­son­nel as needed. Such employ­ments will then be pre­sented for approval by the board at their next reg­u­lar meeting.

In other busi­ness, the Board appointed Mr. Tim Bachelder as their liai­son to the Ohio School Board Asso­ci­a­tion (OSBA). The Board also approved the 2012 mem­ber­ship dues to OSBA in the amount of $4042.

The Board also dis­cussed the pub­lic auc­tion of the Johnsville (approx­i­mately 2.7 acres) and the Iberia (approx­i­mately 2.5 acres) prop­er­ties. The auc­tions for the Iberia and Johnsville lands will be held on Sat­ur­day, Feb­ru­ary 18th at 10 a.m. in the new school cafeteria.

The Board adjourned in exec­u­tive ses­sion to dis­cuss per­son­nel mat­ters at 7:55 p.m.
