The pack held its annual pinewood derby last Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Portland Way South, and 22 Cub Scouts participated. Another three adults and seven youth raced cars in the open race, held before the official derby, and 10 participated in the corporate race. Winners of each heat were declared using the new electronic finish line, which calculated each car’s speed in miles per hour and sometimes broke ties by 1/1000th of a second.
