Updated: Cars collide at Market and Summit intersection
Sarah Einselen — StaffTwo Galion police vehicles, Galion fire Engine 3 and an accompanying EMS crew responded to a two-car collision at the intersection of Market and Summit streets at approximately 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5. One person was taken away on a stretcher in the ambulance. The police department reported at 3:10 p.m. Thursday that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. Vehicles approaching the intersection immediately after the collision were directed to take another route.
UPDATE: According to the crash report completed by the Galion police, Megan L. Miller, a Portland Way resident, ran the stop sign when driving a bronze Oldsmobile Alero westbound through the intersection of East Summit Street and North Market Street. She was struck by Rose A. Apger, who was driving a red Toyota Solara, and suffered incapacitating injuries. Apger hit Miller’s car in the driver side rear, causing it to spin around and hit a tree. The Galion Fire/EMS transported Miller to Galion Community Hospital. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene by Fair Price Towing.
