Four arrested in Morrow County, another still at large

The Mor­row County Sheriff’s Office with assis­tance from the Mt. Gilead Police Depart­ment con­ducted an enforce­ment blitz with plain­clothes and uni­formed offi­cers this week in an attempt to stem the amount of day­time home bur­glar­ies. Numer­ous res­i­dences were checked and inves­tiga­tive traf­fic stops were made. The num­ber of day­time bur­glar­ies for the week was greatly reduced from the past sev­eral weeks.

On Fri­day Decem­ber 23, 2011 the offi­cers made four arrests on var­i­ous war­rants. The arrests include:

• Matthew Cobb, age 27 of Crest­line, Ohio, was arrested for escape out of Craw­ford County. Cobb had escaped cus­tody while at the Galion Com­mu­nity Hos­pi­tal on Wednes­day Decem­ber 21, 2011. Cobb was in a vehi­cle pulled over dur­ing a traf­fic stop. He resisted arrest and fought offi­cers on the scene. He was dis­cov­ered to have what is believed to be heroin and a syringe in his pos­ses­sion at the time of arrest. Cobb is being turned over to the Craw­ford County Sheriff’s Office. Addi­tional charges are now pend­ing in Mor­row County.

• William K Scott, age 35 of Marengo, Ohio was arrested on a Mor­row County Grand Jury indict­ment for Sex­ual Bat­tery. Scott appeared in court this after­noon and was released on an O.R. Bond

• Bran­don Saum, age 19 of Shauck, Ohio was arrested on a Mor­row County Pro­ba­tion Vio­la­tion war­rant and is being held at the Mor­row County Jail.

• Jere­miah Car­roll, age 25 of Crest­line, Ohio was arrested on a war­rant out of Craw­ford County and turned over to the Craw­ford County Sheriff’s Office.

While the day­time enforce­ment effort proved to be effec­tive and suc­cess­ful, an armed rob­bery was reported Wednes­day night at the Cac­tus Club in Marengo, Ohio. Shortly after 10:00 PM, a white male entered the Cac­tus Club and approached the bar. He leaned over and demanded money. The money was given to him and he left with out fur­ther inci­dent. The sus­pect did show a hand­gun. He is described as being 5’6 or 5’7, wear­ing a light col­ored mask, black jacket, blue jeans, and black ten­nis shoes. The sus­pect escaped with an undis­closed amount of cash. It is not known if he fled on foot or had a vehi­cle wait­ing. The inves­ti­ga­tion into the rob­bery is con­tin­u­ing.
