Four arrested in Morrow County, another still at large
The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Mt. Gilead Police Department conducted an enforcement blitz with plainclothes and uniformed officers this week in an attempt to stem the amount of daytime home burglaries. Numerous residences were checked and investigative traffic stops were made. The number of daytime burglaries for the week was greatly reduced from the past several weeks.
On Friday December 23, 2011 the officers made four arrests on various warrants. The arrests include:
• Matthew Cobb, age 27 of Crestline, Ohio, was arrested for escape out of Crawford County. Cobb had escaped custody while at the Galion Community Hospital on Wednesday December 21, 2011. Cobb was in a vehicle pulled over during a traffic stop. He resisted arrest and fought officers on the scene. He was discovered to have what is believed to be heroin and a syringe in his possession at the time of arrest. Cobb is being turned over to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges are now pending in Morrow County.
• William K Scott, age 35 of Marengo, Ohio was arrested on a Morrow County Grand Jury indictment for Sexual Battery. Scott appeared in court this afternoon and was released on an O.R. Bond

• Jeremiah Carroll, age 25 of Crestline, Ohio was arrested on a warrant out of Crawford County and turned over to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
While the daytime enforcement effort proved to be effective and successful, an armed robbery was reported Wednesday night at the Cactus Club in Marengo, Ohio. Shortly after 10:00 PM, a white male entered the Cactus Club and approached the bar. He leaned over and demanded money. The money was given to him and he left with out further incident. The suspect did show a handgun. He is described as being 5’6 or 5’7, wearing a light colored mask, black jacket, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. It is not known if he fled on foot or had a vehicle waiting. The investigation into the robbery is continuing.
